The Karoo is often described as a vast "nothingness". What you might see from the car window as you drive past it... but dig a little deeper, and you will discover the wonderful curiosities of the Karoo itself.

THE KAROO UNDER THREAT
Several oil and gas companies have applied to explore the Karoo for shale gas by means of hydraulic fracturing, the South African government seem to be going through with the motions while more and more groups and inviduals reject fracking completely, supported in their view is the award winning film GASLAND and local film-makers are currently in the US wrapping up their documentary entitled UN-EARTHED.
